Bookie Booker

Now for the moment you have all been waiting for! Just kidding. I know that this book has a lot of lovers and a lot of haters but I feel its worthy to look at. I read this book long before it became the icon that it is today and honestly I think the media has ruined it. It was a truly good book before the movies ruined it and the media made it such a big deal. Stephenie Meyer (the author of the book) gave an interesting outlook on vampires. Though I personally prefer the original vampires, her outlook wasn't that bad. At least it was original. The book is about a relatively normal girl named Bella who doesn't really want to live in Forks Washington but is moving there anyway for her mothers sake. Her father, Charlie, is very happy to have her there and even buys her a truck. For the first few days she doesn't really seem to like the area but she makes some friends quickly and people seem to be somewhat nice. Then she sees the notorious Cullens. They are beautiful and strange and the one named Edward seems to have an interest in her. As Bella and Edward become closer his world is unveiled to her. I loved the romance of the novel and I felt that it was pretty good and its sequels were just as good. I would give it an eight out of ten.
This book by Kathryn Stockett has been highly popular for a while. Its an amazing story. It shows you how people really were and sometimes still are to black people. Its a triumphant story of how they stand up to the rudeness and hate that is thrown at them. Its in the perspective of a few maids and a white woman who wants to write a book about the help (the black women working in homes). This story really is a heart warming story. I cannot get over how much I loved it for the raw emotion and greatness of the story. She really made it seem like you were really in these women's lives and thoughts. I found it to be very very delightful. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone. I would give it a ten out of ten.
This book is by Elissa Wall who is telling her real life story. It is tragic what happened to her. She talks about her life growing up in polygamy and how she begins to realize how messed up it was. She was a sweet little girl born into a harsh sect. She talks about her life in childhood (the good and the bad times). Then she talks about how her life goes all wrong when she is ordered by the prophet to marry her cousin who she despises. Her life from their goes really down hill for a while until she realizes there is an escape from the nightmare shes living. She meets a really nice man who is also shunned for his issues with the beliefs. They fall in love and she gets away. She comes back to testify about what Warren Jeffs did to her and her family. Its a very heart wrenching story but it has a great ending. Its definitely not for children though. It is quite graphic with what happened to her through out her marriage to her cousin. Her cousin was an awful person and does some pretty awful things. I personally found the book very interesting and a good read. I would give it a nine out of ten.

This book is by the amazing Ally Condie. She is another one of those writers I have met at a book tour. She was also very sweet. Her writing probably isn't my favorite but I cant dispute that she is a good writer. This book is about a society where the town picks who you love for you. They go to a big ball and get assigned a person, who they will marry and spend the rest of their life with. The main character gets assigned her best friend and she believes that is perfect. When she takes her match card home to review her match she is met with a surprise. An outcast of the town is on her card. She then cant shake the thought of the boy and gets to know him. They fall in love and of course it is forbidden. The book was a little bit slow for me. It kind of dragged on and there were no good, really juicy parts to keep me interested very much. There are sequels and I am going to read them but for this first one I didn't find it terribly exciting. But for those of you who love rebellion against a very strict society and a forbidden love, I would say its a pretty good read. I would give it six stars out of ten.

This second book is written by Beth Revis. She is a wonderful woman by the way. I met her once at a book tour and she was really cute. She is also just as good a writer as she is a person. Besides the title of the actual book, this story was pretty original. Basically it's about a girl who is frozen so that she can be brought back when the ship she is in lands. It's traveling through space but not as fast as it should. It's not exactly working as they had hoped. Then the girl's whole world gets turned upside down when she mysteriously gets unfrozen. She has to deal with the fact that she will never see her parents again and she will die long before the ship lands. This is truly a heart wrenching story but the depression is lessened by the slight love interest going on in this book. I enjoyed this book all together. I would not say its my favorite but it is recommendable. I would give it six and a half stars out of ten.
This is the first book I am going to talk about. Now, I know this is not to everyone's tastes but remember I will also consider reading books you suggest. This book is written by Stephenie Meyer, who also wrote the Twilight series. I will probably rate those ones too. Personally I thought this one was better than Twilight but that is my personal opinion. This book is about a group of aliens who takes over the human race because they need hosts to survive. Hence the name of the book. We follow a specific alien called Wanderer and her struggles with her body. She is put into the body of Melanie Stryder who apparently is not going to give up her body easily. Wanderer remembers and feels things that Melanie does and sometimes that creates conflict for her. She also hears Melanie in her head as Melanie's will becomes stronger. This leads Wanderer into a whole adventure of discovering what they are doing to humans and how it ultimately effects her. I personally loved this book. I couldn't put it down and it was very well written. The only thing I would say against it is if you are not an avid reader (like me) it can be kind of long. But its worth the wonderfulness of the story and I'm glad it lasted as long as it did because it was hours of fun for me. Plus, I am a die hard romantic so this book was perfect for my tastes and anyone else who enjoys a good, steamy romance. I highly enjoyed this book and I hope you feel that I was accurate in my rating of it. Out of ten stars I would give it an eight and a half.
